  1. I'll hold off my predictions for a while, but I will give my personal ranking now.

    1. Hope Emerson
    2. Celeste Holm (her and Emerson constantly change)
    3. Nancy Olson
    4. Thelma Ritter (her and Olson also change a lot.

    Still need to see Harvey

    1. Remember that you can only give your predictions before I post the second review :)

  2. 1. Emerson
    2. Holm
    3. Hull
    4. Ritter
    5. Olson

My personal ranking without having seen Caged:

    1. Hull (5) - divisive performance for sure but I love her and the film, and actually think she'd be my MVP. Although I love Stewart there too.

    2. Holm (4.5) - re-watch could bump her up, I remember her having a very unique, distinct style to her performance and being quite entertaining and moving.

    3. Ritter (4) - from what I remember doing her usual thing well.

    4. Olson (4) - I actually don't mind her little subplot and think she's a lot of chemistry with Holden and acts as the perfect bright spot in the film.

    1. Caged is not an amazing movie but it's rather engaging and it treats some interesting matters. I suggest you to watch it.

  3. I know so little about this year, although I really should watch All About Eve and Sunset Boulevard. But still, I'll shoot:

    2) Holm
    3) Hull
    4) Ritter
    5) Olson
Btw, congrats on reaching your tenth Supporting Actress year, in such a short time :)

    1. I've still yet to see Emerson or Hull. The first is unfortunate given how underrated everybody tends to say her performance is. The latter is worse since most people tend to love her and the film is far from forgotten. As for the three I've seen, bearing in mind All About Eve is my 2nd-favorite film and Bette Davis's and George Sanders's performances are my 1st and 2nd favorite performances in their respective categories (though I readily admit Vivien Leigh is the best as Scarlett):
Celeste Holm: 4 (verging on 4.5; I find that she adds a lot of depth where there isn't any, in addition to nailing everything else; still the part is limited)
      Nancy Olson: 3 (nice enough)
Thelma Ritter: 3 (she's just fine doing her usual thing, but she did it better elsewhere, including the year before in A Letter to Three Wives)

    2. Glad you love All About Eve! I truly love it as well, I actually prefer it to Sunset Boulevard (which is still a masterpiece).

    2. Good to know that :) What did you think of Mifune? I consider his performance a perfect example of over-the-top acting done right, he's unstoppable every second.

    3. I absolutely loved his performance. He is indeed over-the-top but in the best way possible as he never comes close to hamming it. He is truly a force to be reckoned with whenever he appears and he effortlessly dominates the screen. He's completely convincing in portraying the different versions of the character in each of the stories, creating a fascinating and compelling character. I'd give him an easy 5.
